Thirteen people were injured when a taxi rolled off the N1 highway, 80km outside Bloemfontein near Winburg on Sunday.
When paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the wrecked taxi lying on its roof.
According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, a number of people were found lying inside the taxi while others were found lying outside the taxi.
Two of the taxi passengers had sustained critical injuries while eight others had sustained moderate injuries
“The critically injured were provided with advanced life support interventions. One of the critically injured patients was later airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. The remaining patients on scene were transported by ambulance to various hospitals in Bloemfontein for further treatment,” Meiring said.
The exact cause of the accident is not clear, but cops are investigating the matter.
