Akhumzi Jezile’s last interview on Zaziwa will leave you in tears

As Akhumzi Jezile’s loved ones paid an emotional farewell to him over the weekend, a video taken from an interview on Zaziwa where he said he slept peacefully at night and that he was at peace with his life has gone viral.

Speaking on the show several months ago, Akhumzi spoke out against abuse and boxing people into stereotypical categories, encouraging people to not be a prisoner to their own thoughts.

“No one should be boxed by anyone. Hate crime against homosexual people. Hate crime against women. Hate crime against children. Abuse comes from people who think a certain way. Don’t be a prisoner of your own thoughts.”

He went on to explain that you can only be at peace when you make the change within yourself.

“The change will always start with you. Your are responsible for your own destiny. Look at the man in the mirror. Speak to him only. Deal with only him. The rest will fall into place.”

The tears flowed when he then spoke about himself and said he was ready for whatever came because he was at peace.

“I sleep peacefully. I am at peace with everything,” he added.

Another moving tribute by one of his best friends, Andile Ncube also had fans in tears.

A video posted to the star’s page showed highlights of Akhumzi’s life to Wiz Khalifa’s hit single See You Again.

Akhumzi died last weekend in a horror car crash that also took the lives of actor Thobani Mseleni, Siyasanga Kobese and two others.

A funeral service for Akhumzi was held at the Rhema Bible Church in Johannesburg on Saturday and he was laid to rest at Westpark Cemetery.
